Junior Honors Scholar Program

As part of the Honors College’s commitment to fostering curiosity, exploration, and lifelong learning, the Junior Honors Scholars program provides an immersive academic experience for K-6 students across Oklahoma. In alignment with our land-grant mission and OSU’s strategic plan, this program invites elementary school classes to visit OSU fora free, full-day field trip (excluding transportation costs), where students engage in hands-on, interactive learning experiences designed and led by OSU’s colleges and departments.

Each visiting group follows a specially curated Honors Class Schedule, offering students the opportunity to explore different academic disciplines through engaging, age-appropriate activities. Faculty and students from various departments bring their expertise to life—whether it’s designing dorm rooms in a mixed-reality lab, building robots in an engineering lab, or exploring new concepts in a dynamic learning environment. These experiences not only showcase OSU’s facilities but also provide young learners with a memorable and inspiring introduction to higher education.

By participating in Junior Honors Scholars, OSU faculty and departments play a key role in expanding access to transformative educational opportunities for students of all backgrounds. Additionally, the program aligns with the Honors College’s mission to develop the Ideal Graduate, as current Honors students engage in meaningful outreach, fostering a spirit of engaged citizenship, ethical leadership, and personal responsibility.

If your department is interested in hosting a school group for a hands-on, educational experience, we invite you to collaborate with us in shaping the next generation of scholars.
