Honors Housing

Honors College students have two options for honors housing on campus, Stout Hall and West Bennett.

Stout Hall

Built in the late 1930s, Stout was renovated in 2002 but its original architecture and character were preserved in its large porch, formal living room, piano parlors, and ornate details. Approximately 200-250 current honors students call Stout home each semester, and they enjoy a sink and individual thernostat in each fully furnished room, computer network connections, cable TV, and lounges on each floor. Stout also is centrally located on the OSU campus, and men and women are housed in separate wings on the first three floors.

The entire environment of honors housing is designed to be conducive to the study needs of honors students. In addition to the academic benefits of living in honors housing, though, students also have the opportunity to participate in the other activities available to students living in the OSU residence halls, including intramural sports and social activities. Stout also hosts special events for its residents.

West Bennett

Bennett provides suite-style living in a number of room layouts. Most units feature a shared living area and bathrooms. You may select from fully furnished single, double, triple, or quad suites. A full-service kitchen and laundry room are available on every floor.

Bennett is open to all classifications of students and houses approximately 650 total students each year. West Bennett was recently renovated, and Slam Dunk Coffee Shop and Fast Break convenience store are convenienctly located to give residents a variety of dining options.

Living rooms feature cable TV hookups and each room has an in-room computer network connection. There is also a computer lab on-site for student use. A 24-hour desk service operates in the main lobby, and Bennett Hall also features open visitation. Bennett Hall is alcohol free.

To apply for honors housing, students complete a Residential Life Housing Contract and indicate Stout Hall or West Bennett as their preference. For more information please see the Office of Housing and Residential Life.
